![]() ![]() ![]() Hannek is holding down the fort from his usual spot, a steaming coffee in his hand, and greets Rufus with a casual “Hey, Sugarpuff.” Rufus huffs “Killjoy!” and then heads back to the tunnels with Lonzo. Gizmo’s jaw clenches and he swaps back to the foam. "Mimimimimi," Rufus mocks, "Then come up with something better because here they come!" "No!" "Rufus!" Gizmo and Lonzo object at the same time. "New plan! With your awful dirty water, are you still using the tunnels?" Rufus looks like he has an idea and Gizmo looks like he's going to be sick. They're closer to the tunnels too, after all, Lonzo got here fast. It's his own suggestion, but he already dreads it. (No, we are NOT setting the city hall on fire!) As a firefighter the other half of Rufus’s plan makes his hackles raise. If they're trailing him, it's best to get Rufus as far away from the city hall as possible. "Fire," Rufus rasps before finding his footing and Gizmo already regrets asking. He swaps his gear back to the shocker-rod and can't believe he's saying this. He nods drowsily - worse off than he thought - and Gizmo frowns. "You know these things." It is an observation, not a question. Admittedly that had already left things to be desired, but given the circumstance, it could be worse. He seems no worse for wear than yesterday. "Rufus," he says pointedly, taking in the man's condition with a glance. "Alright," Gizmo replies and pushes forth towards Rufus and Lonzo. "All done," comes Tuck’s gruff voice from the city hall. The question rings across the plaza, waiting for someone to answer. Gizmo has but a second to wonder what the history there is when Lonzo arrives to smash a bottle of Plörre over the creature's head and pulls Rufus back on his feet. Two leap out of the foam, furiously shaking themselves while another that had already been air-bound before reaches Rufus and tackles him down. It doesn't hold them off for long, but it slows them down somewhat. Gizmo switches tactics and flips to fire safety mode to spray the creatures with foam and blind their next onslaught (and, you know, Rufus has already thrown what looks like bombs). The monsters don't seem to stop to the tragic end of their companion and instead double down. There is a vicious glint in the eyes that are singling out the troublemaker, clawed paws ready to strike and suddenly Gizmo knows how Rufus got that scar.Įven the beasts that had been previously engaged with Kuvaq citizens back off from their ongoing struggle to instead shift focus and Gizmo scans the area for an alternate route to reach Rufus before they can.īut the first one is getting to him and Rufus pulls a bat from his coat. The officer zaps his assailant and aims to help as the initial target of the attack becomes more and more clear. From the corner of his eye, he can see another one zeroing in on Rufus. One of the beasts is coming for him and it’s all he can do to raise the rod and block the attack. The smoke clears and Gizmo struggles to see what is going on. Rufus throws something into the mob of the creatures and whatever it is detonates. The uproar is so sudden Gizmo has barely time to react. It's when Rufus arrives on the scene that all hell breaks loose. Gizmo lowers his own guard for a second and watches on in curiosity. Lobo swats a loose board at them and it actually causes them to back off. Gizmo can't help but notice the wobbly bipedal movement of some, while others crawl on all fours. The beasts seem impressed by the numbers and aside from snarling move through the city quietly. Gizmo arms himself with an electro shocker and sees Hannek and Lonzo coming from the tunnels. Tuck, ever the pacifist is keeping to the sidelines and herding the children away. He can see the hatmaker and Lobo approaching. The ruckus calls more people to the street and Gizmo quickly knows that the most challenging ordeal is going to keep order. If they could deal with Rufus for years, then Kuvaq could easily handle some odd lizard dogs. Gizmo can’t say he’s ever seen this kind of beast before, but he’s highly determined to not have ‘Kuvaq citizen’ added to their menu. They seem to be looking for something, food maybe. Tuck, still by the alarm, is trying to meet his gaze from below but not daring to confront these animals. Gizmo sighs with disappointed defeat, but when he bends out of the window he doesn’t see open flames or explosions but… a small horde of weird creatures stalking towards the town center. His thought immediately goes out to Rufus and how yesterday’s progress was just a hiccup on Rufus’s way back to his own kind of ‘normalcy’. The morning after he gets awoken - rather early at that - by the blaring of his emergency sirens.
